These gorgeous smoothie bowls make a delicious and healthy breakfast all year round. But adding a simple yogurt web turns these smoothie bowls into a frightfully fantastic Halloween treat!
There aren’t many things that I enjoy more than creating memories around good food. And I especially love when I can take an everyday recipe that we enjoy all year long, and tweak it into something special. And these Halloween Smoothie Bowls made me really, really happy.
Can we just take a minute and appreciate how pretty it is? This one isn’t just for the kiddos (not that they weren’t thrilled and practically licked the bowl clean). But this presentation is sure to win major appreciation with the adult crowd. It’s also deliciously healthy and bursting with texture and fresh berry flavor. And it requires no cooking or decorating skills. If you have a ziplock bag and can draw a circle, you’re halfway there. How’s that for a holiday win?
Get creative! Put the toppings into bowls and let your kids make their own spooky creations.
Other Topping Ideas: If you can’t find seasonal berries, frozen or even freeze-dried fruits make yummy smoothie bowl toppers. Mini chocolate chips, festive sprinkles, shredded coconut, granola, slivered almonds, mandarin oranges, sliced grapes, diced apples, or banana slices also make great toppers.
Use your favorite smoothie recipe as a base. This is more a concept than a recipe. Use your favorite green smoothie and have your kids make goblin smoothie bowls, or a nice orange mango smoothie is a great base for a smoothie jack-o-lantern.
Is your smoothie too liquidy? Try adding a handful of oats or more frozen fruit to thicken it back up. Add just a little liquid at a time and stop as soon as your mixture is able to blend smoothly.
Use a bowl that is wide and shallow. This will give you the perfect base for adding plenty of delicious toppings. Chilling your bowl in the freezer is also a good way to help keep your smoothie nice and thick when serving.

Add milk, frozen banana pieces and frozen blueberries to a blender. Blend ingredients until smooth and creamy. Add more milk as needed.
Spoon into bowls. Add the Greek yogurt to a a small ziplock bag and cut a very small piece off the corner.
In the middle of the smoothie bowl, make a small circle with the yogurt. Make 3 more circles around the first circle. Using a sharp knife or toothpick, glide the knife from the smallest circle outward towards the biggest circle to create a web pattern.
Add toppings in a half circle pattern. Serve and enjoy!
